Does Anyone Pay For Porn Anymore?

With so much free porn online between porntube, xtube, etc. and sites like newbudnudes.com / newbienudes.com does anyone actually pay for their porn anymore?

If you do pay for porn? What motivates your decision? Is it the convenience of a DVD on a big flat screen? Is it the stream of fresh content from a monthly paid internet subscription? Is it for content that you can't easily get elsewhere?

I'm interested in hearing everyone's unique take on the topic.

We live in a strange world where everything is trying to be free or have its "good" free analogue. This idea is obsessing everything! But somethimes we forget that we have to pay for the quality! So do you agree that the quality of a porn DVD is higher than some free small video from Slutload.com or Porntube?! Or I am a mad fan of porn?
I think the payed porn will last forever living with the free clips!
Oh and porn is not only video! Think about pictures, magazines, stories, games, and all other stuff from this huge industry!

The reason I asked my question is that there is a majority push to democratize every product, along with most services. The result is that in many consumables that target the end consumer never make a dime off of the product themselves and only make money from advertising associated with the content.

It is something that is affecting many industries, and recently I read that the same is taking hold in the porn industry ...which is like the only industry that has been able to survive past 'revolutions'. With that said there are significant numbers speculating that the adult industry won't survive because they can't make money.

Of course Porn itself is going nowhere ...it's not so much that porn will die as it is that the Porn Stars will become a thing of a past and the money generated by the industry will hover above 'very little' in relative terms. Major studios are already entertaining the idea of losing their content creation departments and simply try to sell advertising on 'user generated content sites'.

To me all of this is upsetting, not just concerning the adult industry, but as a world trend in general that is being applied to many industries.

I am however curious as to how the sexualforums people feel ...pay or get it for free. I always feel that free comes at a sometimes greater cost, but I'm certain that I am in the minority.

Anyone else want to chime in? I'd love to hear everyone's unique thoughts.

I can only see the margins shrinking even more, as the internet gives everyone the capability to be their own content creator and/or distributor, and make it a lot easier to leverage money from large entities like advertisers than the individual.

Porn will likely stay most prosperous in the early cycles of new technology. Indeed, many argue that porn is what helps leverage a lot of technologies into the mainstream (the VCR being a prime example). There will always be those "early adopters" who are willing to pay, but as the technology gets more commoditized, the profit margin shrinks and eventually it becomes so widespread it is free.

Personally I do not look at porn enough to make it worth paying for. Online I believe there are more hazards to paying for porn (e.g. do you really trust whom you are giving out that credit card number/checking account info to?) and so many easy ways to find it for free. Plus, I am more inclined to look at "real" people, not actors and actresses, and so many folks these days are willing to share their escapades for free. Sure it is not professionally "produced", but at the free price point folks are willing to accept that.

Maybe there is also analogy to what has happened with software in terms of open source, where it is free or folks decide on their own how much to pay for it. I am not sure but it might make for an interesting analysis.

i find that pictures isn't enough, its always video that really turns me on, and i have rarely found free porn videos that do the job, but any sites that do turn me on require paid membership, i do pay but i usually take the trial period, and before i sign up i want to make sure the site's name doesnt show up on my bank statement

This is a key point. There are many more low/casual viewers of porn that do not see they need to pay for it, when there is already an abundance of free porn available. It is not much different that a newspaper trying to charge to view its articles - unless you are an intense fan of the newspaper, you are happy to get your news free.

Paying for it ensures some type of quality, so occasionally I"ll buy a DVD, but I haven't in a long time

I think paid porn is going the way of the dinosaur, between tube sites, P2P video sharing networks like Kazaa, bitorrent sites, and hotfile linking...

They just can't survive anymore. It's one of those evolve or die sort of things... but clearly they will have to change to compete. Tube sites are a good example of this as they are slowly merging with the paid sites they steal their content from lol.

if you are going to pay for porn, i'd recommend going on a site with downloadable videos, dont get a dvd unless you WANT to break up with your girlfriend
