The Term Masturbation

I was sitting in my chair getting a hand job from the wife one day and I believe that I said something like "I love it when you masturbate me". My wife said that she does not like that term. She would prefer "Jack Off" because masturbation seems derogatory.

I thought it was odd since masturbate is the real word. What is everyone's thoughts?

Masturbate is the only proper word for discussing it in the English language and also in medical language.

All the other terms are simply slang.

It's not derogatory but masturbation is self gratification, not if someone else is doing it to you.

Since word "masturbation" is the scientific and clinical term for self-stimulation, I don't see how it could be considered derogatory. When something is derogatory it is (according to Dictionary.com) "tending to lessen the merit or reputation of a person or thing; disparaging; depreciatory." I'm uncertain how calling it masturbation lessens the merit or reputation of masturbation. Actually, I'm fairly certain that she misapplied the word derogatory.

i dont see how it can be derogatory? its a better way to say it than Jack Off

I get more aroused with my girlfriend saying, jack off than masturbate. She prefers the term fap instead. "I'm gonna fap." Just works great. Different strokes for different folks. (even that saying still applies)

I would prefer a term which is "nicer"... a technical term sounds somewhat harsh... To fondle is nicer... and I am sure there are other euphamisms that work for many - depending on what exactly you are doing.

ok i'll admit, sometimes i live under a rock, but is "fap" a real term or just something the two of you use??

masturbation is done solo.

I wondered about that as well, but then I remembered the adult picture hosting site called fapomatic.com. and it all made perfect sense.

I've been hearing fap more and more lately. I'm pretty sure it's an onomatopoeia.
