If you're asking what makes a person gay, I'd say that one is born like that.

However, you seem to be asking what being gay actually is, and more specifically, what it means. To me being gay means being exclusively sexually attracted to the same sex. I'm not sure if it's supposed to "mean" anything else.

Gay is not a gender, nor is it a sex. Masculine and feminine are genders. Male and female are sexes. Gay (like heterosexual or transgendered) is a sexual orientation. Therefore, gay people do not consider themselves to be a man or a woman trapped in the opposite sex's body. That's the definition of transgendered.

According to Merriam Webster the definition of homosexual is :

"of, relating to, or involving sexual intercourse between persons of the same sex "

That definition works for me.

Attraction to another man? It's how you're born, you can't chose to like one sex over another any more than you can chose to like apples to oranges. Ohh... I want an orange now

If your only real interest is someone same gender as yourself, and if with the other you are not really liking it.

That is bisexual.

What makes a person gay is wanting to have sex with someone of the same gender. Homosexual only of the same gender. Bisexual both. Hetero only with the opposite sex. Also I thought gender was the same as sex. If someone is a female but masculine their gender is still female.

I used to have gay friends which I lost track of over time. Anyway I got to ask and they said they had girlfriends, most of them, one was married and has 2 children, but deep inside not really satisfied even if their girl were to do everything they love, sex anytime they want it. It's like they are wired that way, and sooner or later it will surface, some fight it for a long time and are unhappy, always carrying a secret, some going to great lengths to hide their nature and to have sex with another person.
