For all who have yet to see the telecast....Wow...the Chinese have done an excellent job with the opening ceremony...dont miss it .

Indeed. The ceremony was really impressive. It's unbelievable how they managed to keep those performances that included 2008 individuals in sync. The fireworks and the globe were also awesome. Great job china

Well I do agree that there's also a darker side on the things. And I bet that after the games are over there is no sign of the things they've tried to do to improve the air quality (Not that it would've helped on so short period of time anyway..). I mean that on the second this event is over all those closed factories etc will start to pump pollution in the air..

Anyway, I still think they managed to arrange a really astonishing opening ceremony

Call me crazy but I just don't really care.

The only event I'm interested in is the new BMX competition.

Sweden usually does fairly well in the Olympics. Today's paper had a list of the top 10 medal winning countries. USA was number one (they have the most competitors, therefore the most medals). Other countries included France, UK, Germany, the former USSR, UK, and West Germany (no kidding). Sweden was number nine. Not bad for a little socialist country of 9 million people. Australia was number ten.
