I fully intend to equip my daughter with all the facts before her first period, so she will be informed. My dad just sat me down before church and said, " Always keep your legs closed, especially in a dress". My mom talked more frankly, and when I started having sex, I went to her and she hooked me up on birth control. I seriously want my daughter to wait until marriage so she will not have to go through the emotional head games that sex can bring on, but I will stand by her no matter what her choice. I just want her to feel comfortable and close enough to her parents to actually TALK about it and make the wisest choice she can as an adolescent/young adult. Oral, anal, vaginal, it's all sex, and it still comes with risks and emotions. Of course, they taught us how menstruation and intercourse worked in our Sex Ed, and it was all about how pregnancy occurred. I am sure it still leaves much to be desired in public schools today.
And for those of you who advocate sex at a young age in your country, I do not want to hear it, thanks! | | |

A couple of things:
First, there are teenaged guys out there that don't care, if it has a pulse, hit it where she'll let ya hit it. There are others that are better, but we all know an adult or two who have never gotten away from that mindset. With that in mind, I wonder if this isn't a case of the negative getting more press than the positive? Yes, our sex ed system in the US is a flaming piece of crap, but I can't see that there are so few positive sexual events going on as well. I tend to see it like the news coverage of the oh-so-hated Iraq war. We keep hearing about all the deaths, and all the misery over there. But I've been there, and I saw and participated in so many positive things that never made the news here, because that's not good ratings. I wonder if this isn't along those lines.
Second, as my wife and I discussed, the primary means of proper sex ed for our son will be us, just as it was for my parents. Yes, I was sexually active as a teenager, but that was actually aided by my parents, who were open and honest with me from a young age, and made sure to teach me about responsibility, and the importance of caring for your partner, and how to treat a woman with respect in all things. I never had a kid as a teenager, because I learned from an early age the risks and responsibilities of being sexually active. My parents knew my partners, because they took an active interest in my life. They were friends with my girlfriends' parents, talked often, and kept tabs on what was going on. With that, I was perfectly capable of having a healthy, positive sexual experience, and so were my partners. If the parents just think that's it's the school's responsibility to teach sex ed, and don't take the time to even find out what's being teached, then they have no control towards ensuring that the values that they want instilled in their children are there.

i knew about sex before i ever even had sex ed in 6th grade. my mom had a book of where babies came from. it was a neat book.(wander if she still has it. might come in handy) . when i was in 9th grade, i was pregnant and in the child ed. class (where you learn about taking care of kids and run a day care. its an elective class.{i dont know if all schools have this}) they were handing out the baby think it overs. which there wasnt much for me to think over since i was already pregnant.
those dolls should be passed out to more kids. boys included.

[QUOTE=Cowboy Lover;199481][COLOR="Indigo"] that more and more teens are getting into anal intercourse and oral sex in lieu of having vaginal intercourse.
I want to be a teen again!!!!!!
I can't help but wonder how much of this is being influenced by porn.

I can't help but wonder how much of this is being influenced by porn. | It's probably not so much the influence of porn, but the misguided belief that anal sex is an acceptable "replacement" for vaginal sex, that the vagina must remain unpenetrated until marriage. As ridiculous as it sounds I can sort of see the twisted logic behind it. Although, I wonder what all these abstinence-only proponents would think if they knew that those same kids making virginity pledges are still having sex. They're just practicing sodomy and fellatio instead of vaginal intercourse.

I don't think anybody should be too surprised that anal sex is becoming more common, the way certain forms abstinance sex education goes A woman is damaged goods as soon as she loses her virginity. Years ago anal sex was promoted as a way of keeping a horny man satisfied without damaging your retail value to your father or whatever male relative was holding your reins untill they could hand you over to a husband.
Its always girls that come off worst from poor or non existant sex education. Look at it this way read evil-zombie's post again , and then ask yourself do you want any girl ending up in contact with the guy that isn't 100% clear about what happens during sex and what the consequences are.
Anal sex as a substitute to vaginal sex is something thats born out of ignorance, guys aren't being assholes when they want sex, girls just need to be better informed so theres some form of equality in the relationship.
