I would encourage you and your partner to start slowly. Anal play in a warm shower is nice. In bed get a series of anal plugs from a small one to larger and larger. Use lots of lube and practice relaxing as the plug is inserted. If he will allow it also play with his anus. If he knows what it feels like to have things inserted he may be gentle enough to help you. Your anus can accommodate his penis if you are able to relax enough. The biggest problem is that people get in a hurry or give up after one episode. It took a patient lover for me to become comfortable.
